What is a Free Clinic?

• Non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization
• Primary mission is to provide health care
  services for free to individuals who lack
  resources to pay. The un/underinsured.
• Community-based

ORC and Free Clinics

• Cannot deny on ability to pay any administrative
  fees clinics might charge
• Cannot bill patients for services rendered
• Cannot perform operations
• Free clinics not free if they bill Medicaid,
  Medicare or other 3rd-party payer, and receive
  25 of its annual revenue from these sources.

How do clinics provide care?

• 1,200 volunteer physicians
• 2,400 volunteer nurses, allied health and
  community partners
• Donated medical supplies, lab testing, and
  administrative help
• PAPs and donated pharmaceuticals through Karons
  Law legislation
• Each dollar invested yields an average 8 dollar
  return

• Until all have access, free clinics stand in the
  gap for those who find themselves without
  insurance
• Health care access is key to healthy communities.
  Free clinics support economic development by
  keeping people on the job and their children in
  school.
• A profound belief that we have to help those are
  sick and in need
