Title: Are you looking for an After School or Summer Job

1
Are you looking for an After School or Summer Job?
  • Advisory Lesson 1- How to find a job.

2
Step 1
  • Decide what kind of work you are willing to do.
For example, if you do not have tolerance for
crying babies, you would probably dislike working
    in a nursery.
  • Determine what type of work schedule you would be
able to follow. For example, a person who is
active in a club or sport may prefer a job that
has hours on the weekend or later in the evening,
so that work and school do not interfere with one
    another. Consider transportation as well.

3
Step 2
  • Begin looking for a job that fits your criteria.
  • Helpful suggestions for locating jobs
  • Newspaper- Classified Section
  • Online
  • School Career Lab
  • Ask Friends, Neighbors, Teachers, Etc. if they
are aware of any job openings

Step 3
  • Call the business you are interested in working
for and ask to speak to a Manager.
  • Ask the Manager if he/she is hiring. If so, ask
what the job requirements are. For example, how
old do you need to be or what hours are they
    hiring for.
  • If you fit the criteria, ask the manager when you
can come in to fill out an application and
    interview for the position.
