A little history

• Most recent strategic plan was originally
  developed in September 2001
• The plan was modified in the second year due to
  changes in the external environment (Enrons
  bankruptcy, Andersens dissolution, PCAOB
  established, etc.)

• The strategic plan had ten objectives and
  forty-seven tasks
• The SPC periodically reviewed how well tasks were
  being accomplished

• The SPC concluded that many of the tasks have
  been accomplished and several tasks are ongoing
  and will never be concluded
• Therefore, it was decided that it was time to
  develop a new strategic plan in the 04-05
  fiscal year

• Prior to a Strategic Planning Retreat, the
  Strategic Planning Committee and Executive Board
  received input from various TSCPA constituents,
  including the general membership.

• Executive Board, Strategic Planning Committee and
  staff developed four major objectives as well as
  tasks to accomplish each objective.
• The new Strategic Plan was adopted by the
  Executive Board in April.

• Position TSCPA as the source that provides and/or
  links members to services and resources they need
  to succeed as professionals in their specialized
  areas of industry, education, government or
  public practice.

• Position TSCPA as the advocate for CPAs
  interests in Texas through its Regulatory and
  Legislative program.

• Increase TSCPA membership and market share of
  Texas CPAs.

• Promote the profession and image of the CPA as a
  trusted and valued advisor.

Going Forward

• The new plan is intended to be three years in
  scope.
• The Strategic Planning Committee will
  periodically review the plan and recommend
  modifications to align with changes in the
  external environment.

• Accomplishment of strategic plan tasks will be
  reviewed by the Strategic Planning Committee and
  reported to the Executive Board periodically.
