Title: What is an EAP

1
What is an EAP?
  • Your company recognizes that employees may
experience personal problems at different times
in their lives, and that in such circumstances
employees may be uncertain as to where to turn
for help. Because a company is only as healthy as
its employees, your company has established an
    Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

2
  • The EAP is a program that provides free
    confidential assessment, referral and counseling
services to employees and their families and
significant others in the event they are
struggling with any kind of personal problem or
situation for which they would like to seek
    professional assistance.

3
  • Your EAP is provided by Perspectives, Ltd., an
outside group of therapists and clinicians with
whom the Company has contracted to provide this
    service. Perspectives therapists have been
    providing Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    services since 1981.

4
The EAP Covers a Wide Range of Issues
  • Family
  • Child Issues
  • Elder Issues
  • Communication
  • Family Conflict
  • Serious Illness
  • Parenting
  • Work Related
  • Career Issues
  • Interpersonal
  • Job Burnout
  • Financial
  • Budget Control
  • Credit Problems
  • Marital/Relationship
  • Domestic Violence
  • Dual Career Issues
  • Resolving Conflict
  • Separation/Divorce
  • Substances
  • Alcohol
  • Illegal Drug Abuse
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Legal
  • Child Support
  • Divorce
  • Emotional
  • Anger Issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Eating Disorders
  • Grief/Loss
  • Life Transition
  • Mood Swings
  • Stress

5
  • If you or anyone important to you is ever
struggling with any of these problems, and would
like to consult a professional counselor to help
resolve them, they can do so through the EAP
completely confidential and at absolutely no cost.

6
Features of the EAP
  • It is a very expansive program. The free service
is available to you as an employee of your
company, your family and your significant others.

7
Why is it Free For Me?
  • Problems experienced by people close to you may
have the potential to impact upon you. Therefore,
your company has made the benefit offered by the
EAP available not only to you, but to any member
    of your family as well.

8
  • So, for example, if you had a sister who was
going through a difficult time as a result of a
divorce, she could see a counselor through this
program at no charge to her, simply by virtue of
the fact that she is related to you, and that you
    work here.

9
In addition, the services offered by the EAP even
extend to people who arent related to you, like
a boyfriend, girlfriend or significant other. The
bottom line is that if a person is important to
you and if they are experiencing a personal
problem or situation for which they would like to
seek professional assistance, they can do so
through the EAP at no charge.
10
The Program is Completely Confidential
  • Perspectives follows all state and federal
confidentiality laws. No information is shared
without your written permission except where
required by law. No record of EAP participation
will appear in your personnel file.

11
Finally, The Program is Voluntary
  • No one, of course, is required to use it. It is
simply a resource that your company has made
available to you should you desire to use it. The
    choice is entirely yours.

12
How to Access Program Services
  • If a person wanted to speak to a counselor about
a personal situation, they would call the
    Perspectives toll free number
  • 800-456-6327

13
  • When a person calls Perspectives during normal
business hours (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. 6
p.m. central standard time) they will be
connected with the Perspectives Access Center.
Our professional Access Center staff will provide
supportive phone counseling for a variety of
issues. For some issues, our Masters and PhD
level Access Center counselors may also provide
additional resources for you to pursue to assist
with your issue or they will schedule you with an
appointment. For emergency situations you have a
Masters level counselor available 24 hours a day,
    7 days a week.

14
  • The EAP is an extremely important employee
benefit, and your company is pleased to be able
to offer it to you and your family. Consider it a
resource when you or your family needs help.
