ABOUT US Palestinian Refugee Support Network The
Palestinian Refugee Support Network is located in
the US, Canada and Palestine. The project is
being launched in the United States Canada by
Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition
- New York Al-Awda Vancouver and New Jersey
Solidarity - Activists for the Liberation of
Palestine. Both Al-Awda New York and New Jersey
Solidarity are tax-exempt, non-profit
organizations in the US. Al-Awda Vancouver is a
non-profit organization in Canada. Our main goal
is to develop the family-to-family sponsorship
project (Takaful) in coordination with Al-Karmel
Cultural and Social Development Association, and
Hanan Cultural and Social Development Association
in Gaza Strip, Palestine. The network aims to
work with civil organizations in the Arab world
and internationally in order to support
Palestinian refugees in their just struggle for
independence, sovereignty, self-determination
the right to return. The network aims as well to
develop a solid basis for solidarity with the
Palestinian people based on their national and
human rights. Al-Karmel Hanan Cultural and
Social Development Associations serve primarily
children, women, youth and the disabled,
especially those in the most poverty stricken
remote communities in Gaza. Since 1993,
Al-Karmels main work has been focused on the
economic, education, cultural and social progress
and the overall alleviation of suffering in

Through Family Sponsorship, your family now has
the unique opportunity to help alleviate the
suffering of impoverished families in Gaza Strip,
Palestine, and show solidarity to those who are
impacted the most by the dire humanitarian
crisis. Family sponsorship is a community
development initiative that aims to change lives
by delivering long-lasting, self-sustaining
improvements to help lift generations out of
poverty. Your sponsorship will empower parents
and children caught in the cycle of poverty.
With your support of 3 per day, delivered in
direct monetary assistance, you are giving your
sponsored family the option of sustaining
essential life needs, be it food, health,
education or merely coming out of crisis. Your
own family will experience the joy of building
bridges with your sponsored family as you begin
to build a relationship with them. Your children
will learn invaluable lessons about caring,
sharing and selfless kindness. You will have the
option of contacting your sponsored family, and
even visiting them as a show of your solidarity
with their struggle for dignity, national and
human rights. Family-to-Family sponsorship aims
to alleviate the suffering of impoverished
families, and provide minimum support to the
family unit to sustain itself.
How much is received by the family from the
sponsored amount? The only deductions from the
sponsored amount would be the share of Wire
Transfer fees (estimated at 4), PayPal
transaction charge (estimated at 3),
Administration charge of 5.00 for Al-Karmel, and
local administrative expenses of 3.00, for each
100 family sponsorship. Our program relies
highly on volunteers and your support. The
family should receive an average amount of 85
per 100 donation.   How long will my sponsorship
last? Your sponsorship can last several months
or many years. The goal of the Family Sponsorship
Project is to bring your sponsored family and
their community to health and self-reliance so
they can step confidently into the future and
survive the hard conditions under siege and under
occupation. The campaign will continue to expand
to serve other communities in desperate need of
help. You will be given the opportunity to
sponsor a different family in a new community.
How do I contact to my sponsored family? Will I
hear from my sponsored family? Once you become a
sponsor, we will provide you with contact
information for the family if they have own
telephone. Otherwise, Al-Karmel Hanan
Associations will arrange for an appointment for
you to speak to the family at their offices. You
will also be able to write letters to the
families, and receive letters back from them.
Please allow time for translation arrangements if
needed. What do we receive when we become a
sponsoring family? In addition to your familys
profile, you will also receive a welcome letter,
a brochure explaining the program, and quarterly
receipts. We will also provide contact
information to the sponsored family and a
semi-annual receipt from the family of the amount
received. An annual progress report with an
updated photo (optional) will also detail how
your support is benefiting your sponsored family.
What is the Family to Family Sponsorship
Program? You and your family would financially
sponsor a family in a Palestinian refugee camp,
primarily in Gaza Strip, on a monthly, quarterly,
semi-annual or annual basis. The sponsored family
would receive the donation in direct financial
assistance. Are tax deduction receipts
available? Tax deduction receipts are only
available in the U.S. Depending on the program
selection, tax deduction receipts are processed
by the U.S. partners Al-Awda New York, or New
Jersey Solidarity. Both are tax-exempt,
non-profit organizations. You should feel secure
about helping Palestinian families through the
Palestinian Refugee Support Network. Al-Karmel
and Hanan are independent Palestinian
non-governmental organizations that have worked
with and received financing from major
international institutions, and engage in the
strictest accounting practices, ensuring that
your donation goes directly to needy families.
All monies are disbursed fully in accordance with
all U.S. laws and regulations. How much does a
family need? An Al-Karmel Cultural Association
assessment states that a family needs 200 per
month to minimally survive poverty and siege. The
100 were offering will allow the family to cope
partially, and allow us to bring assistance to
more families.
