Audiology Comments
  • Ejournals Access (1)
  • I dont know if things changed since I first
started in August of 2004, but I didnt
understand how to access electronic journals
until the library included the tutorial in the
class notes and on the class CD
  • Orientation/Education (1)
  • Im sure there is still information that would
be useful to me, but Im not sure how to find
    out
  • Document Delivery/Interlibrary loan (3)
  • Unless its included in my tuition or fees, I
will not be paying for documents of books to be
    delivered.
  • Ejournals Content (3)
  • I often tried to download a full text article
only to find that it was only offered in print
or the subscription had expired. That was
    frustrating.

Forensic Science Comments
  • Positive, Generic (1)
  • I was surprised to find how helpful it wasI
have found however that access to online texts
    would also be very helpful
  • Ejournals content/More full text (1)
  • Great services! I would like more access to
    full-text articles
  • E-books (1)
  • E-journals are great! I have used ebooks, but
    without much success.
  • Ejournals Access (4)
  • It should be much more user-friendly and
    faster.
  • Orientation/Education (5)
  • Might be helpful to have a something that
explains how to use each service and what the
best service to use for different types

Nursing Comments
  • Positive, Generic (1)
  • Im still learning and exploring what options are
    available.
  • Ejournals content/More Fulltext (1)
  • Several of the journals we needed were not
    available as e-journals.
  • Availability (2)
  • I dont really think you can do anything about
the computer system going down, but that is very
    frustrating
  • System Ejournals Access (2)
  • The site is somewhat easy to use except several
    sites require a separate sign-on.
  • Orientation/Education (3)
  • I could also use more info on navigating through
and from databases to online articles to decrease
    my library search time.

18

OT Comments
  • Orientation/Education (1)
  • Methods for Obtaining Full text articles.
  • Ejournals Access (1)
  • The only thing I get frustrated with is gaining
access to articles from databases and
    ejournals.
  • Positive, Generic (2)
  • very helpful, professional and timely.
  • Ejournals Content/more fulltext (2)
  • UF does not provide access to enough on-line
journals or journal articles. This makes
research on very specific or little researched
    topics very difficult.
  • Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan (2)
  • Decrease cost of Doct Delivery. Continue to
offer email and chat assistance and tutorials.
    Thanks.

22

  • Program web site (48)

25
Pharmacy Comments
  • Reference chat, email, and tutorials (1)
  • Of all the resources, I use the references the
most. These are the most helpful to me.
  • Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan (2)
  • Loans are nice, but not realistic. With the
workload we have, if we cannot obtain information
from particular source right now, then we will
    get it somewhere else.
  • Ejournals Access (4)
  • I am not always able to access certain
articles/studies via PubMed-I am denied access
even when I am logged in as a UF student.
  • Program/subject Specific Remarks (4)
  • The biggest complaint is that there is limited
ability to use computers at the distance campus.
We were told that a wireless connection was
required for our laptops, and the Orlando campus
    does not have wireless.

26
Pharmacy Comments Cont.
  • Ejournals Content/More Full Text (5)
  • I would like to have more journals and books
available online for my research projects.
  • Orientation/Education (7)
  • The Distance Learning web pages and resources
are very well organized and proliferate the
learning experience. The databases and the
libraries catalog were not as well organized,
and many times I was not able to view the item I
wanted without having to contact a librarian
  • Positive, Generic (7)
  • No comments other than this is a great service
for those of us that do not have physical
    access.

27
WPPD
  • 80 responses
  • Location 10 in FL, 77 outside of FL, 12
    outside of US
  • Internet Connection 91 have broadband
  • Employment 92 FT, 7 PT, and 1 other
  • Student Status 15 FT and 85 PT

28
WPPD Cont.
  • Top 3 services used ejournals, Library DL page,
    and online databases
  • Students are most satisfied with these services
  • Library DL page (89)
  • Ejournals (86)
  • Online databases (85)

29
WPPD Cont.
  • Low usage of
  • Document Delivery (92 used
  • ILL (96 used
  • Ask-a-Librarian (90 used
  • email reference (98 used
  • How students found out about DL services
  • Part of a class (65)
  • Program printed materials (38)
  • Program website (34)

30
WPPD Comments
  • Ejournals Access (1)
  • The ejournals are really convenient. It saves a
    lot of time.
  • Ebooks (1)
  • Books get out of date so quickly, that I
constantly research information on PubMed the
ejournals before going to the textbooks. I find
MD Consult difficult to use, but love
emedicine.com. Many of the Harrisons textbooks
are difficult to read because the viewing window
    is so small.
  • Program/Subject Specific Remarks (1)
  • A collaborative effort to produce course
materials online similar to the MIT online
    initiative would be most welcome.

31
WPPD Comments Cont.
  • System Availability/Website (2)
  • It would be easier to log on to ez proxy on the
home page rather than selecting a tab.
  • Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan (3)
  • Make it easier for students to get articles that
they need without having to pay.
  • Databases (3)
  • Access to more databases, full journal articles,
online references (e.g. gold std, clinical
    pharmacology, facts/comparisons, etc.) or any
features that would be comparable to being at the
    library.

32
WPPD Comments Cont.
  • Ejournals Content/More Full Text (9)
  • I wish it was easier to get more full text
articles. Also, to access the the Up-to-Date
    database.
  • Orientation/Education (11)
  • Keep up the good work!! Email students with new
information and helps for using the system
    occasionally.
  • Positive/Generic (21)
  • This is a tremendously valuable resource. I
wish I can continue to be involved with access
    after I complete the program.

33
Summary
  • Top 4 services used ejournals, online databases,
    online handouts,and library DL page
  • Low usage of potentially useful resources such as
    ILL,DD, email chat reference
  • Responses indicate need for education about
    finding resources, especially electronic journals
    and books

34
Future Directions
  • Faculty Survey
  • Resurvey students in two years
  • Applying Information Learned
  • Increase education efforts by creating new
    interactive tutorials for finding electronic
    journals and books
  • Increase marketing efforts and trying for more
    course integration
