  • Ammonia- Helps absorb more nicotine.
  • Arsenic- deadly poison that makes you have bad
    breath and causes lips to burn
  • Cadmium- causes damage to liver, kidneys,
    brain.
  • Lead- stunts growth, makes you vomit.
  • Nicotine- causes addiction ranked before
    alcohol when it come to dependence.
  • Benzene- cancer causing. Used to make everything
    from pesticides to detergent.
  • Vanilla, Chocolate, Honey- used to be more
    appealing

How does smoking effect Teens?
  • Athletic ability- lack in performance and
    endurance.
  • Heartbeat- Beats 2-3 times faster than a normal
    resting heart rate.
  • Makes you cough.
  • Can cause severe respiratory illness.

  • The younger you start the more addicted you can
    get.
  • 80 of adult smokers started before age 18.
  • Nearly everyday 3000 teens start smoking.
  • 5 million children will die prematurely because
    their parents smoke
  • Nearly all first use starts before high school
    graduation.
  • Teens who smoke are more likely to get poor
    grades and lower self-esteems.

  • Develop gum disease
  • Can develop oral cancer.

  • Clogs up the cilia that keep your lungs clean
  • When the tar cools it turns into a brown sticky
    substance that sticks to your lungs
  • Lungs and airways narrow
  • Some chemicals alter lung cells
  • Mucus cells grow in size which cause smokers
    cough

  • 8 times more likely to smoke marijuana.
  • 22 more likely to use cocaine
  • Associated with fighting engaging in

  • Nicotine fading- wean your self off smoking
  • Quit Smoking contract- give yourself rewards for
    not smoking
  • Buddy Support-have a friend help keep you in
    check.

  • A pack can cost up to 4 these days!
  • If you smoke a pack a day for a year it will cost
    around 1344
  • You could buy an X-box and some games with that,
    or a TV, or DVD, or go to the movies a few
    hundred times!
