Title: Living for What Really Matters
1Living for What Really Matters!
21. We are Living for Eternity
- Eccl 311 (NLT)
- He has planted eternity in the human heart
31. We are Living for Eternity
- 2 Cor 56-10 (NIV)
- 6 Therefore we are always confident and know
that as long as we are at home in the body we are
away from the Lord. 7 We live by faith, not by
sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would
prefer to be away from the body and at home with
the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him,
whether we are at home in the body or away from
it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is
due him for the things done while in the body,
whether good or bad.
41. We are Living for Eternity
- 1 Cor 311-15 (NLT)
- 11 For no one can lay any other foundation
than the one we already haveJesus Christ. 12 Now
anyone who builds on that foundation may use
gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But
there is going to come a time of testing at the
judgment day to see what kind of work each
builder has done. Everyone's work will be put
through the fire to see whether or not it keeps
its value. 14 If the work survives the fire, that
builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work
is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss.
The builders themselves will be saved, but like
someone escaping through a wall of flames.
52. We are Running a Race!
- 1 Cor 924-27 (NLT)
- 24 Remember that in a race everyone runs, but
only one person gets the prize. You also must run
in such a way that you will win. 25 All athletes
practice strict self-control. They do it to win a
prize that will fade away, but we do it for an
eternal prize. 26 So I run straight to the goal
with purpose in every step. I am not like a boxer
who misses his punches. 27 I discipline my body
like an athlete, training it to do what it
should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to
others I myself might be disqualified.
62. We are Running a Race!
- Phil 312-14 (NLT)
- 12 I don't mean to say that I have already
achieved these things or that I have already
reached perfection! But I keep working toward
that day when I will finally be all that Christ
Jesus saved me for and wants me to be. 13 No,
dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I
should be, but I am focusing all my energies on
this one thing Forgetting the past and looking
forward to what lies ahead, 14 I strain to reach
the end of the race and receive the prize for
which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up
to heaven.
73. We are in a Battle
- Eph 612 (MSG)
- 12 This is no afternoon athletic contest that
we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple
of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death
fight to the finish against the Devil and all his
angels.
2 Tim 23-4 (NKJV) 3 You therefore must endure
hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No
one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the
affairs of this life, that he may please him who
enlisted him as a soldier.
8- How do you live?
- What Really Matters?
- 2 Cor 418 (NIV)
- 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on
what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal. - The way we live shows us what we believe!
- Does your life reflect what you say you believe?
9What really matters in my life?
- Time
- How do we spend our discretionary time?
- Do you live with Worlds Mentality?
- I deserve leisure
- I work hard
- Its my life I decide how to spend my off time.

receive glory and honor and power for thou hast
created all things, and for thy pleasure they are
and were created.
- 1 Cor 620 (NKJV)
- 20 For you were bought at a price therefore
glorify God in your body and in your spirit,
which are God's.

- 2. Money
- How do we spend our money?
- What would your check book or bank account show
us? - Tithes
- Missions
- Offerings
- Do we live with the worlds mentality?
- Its my money
- I worked for it and I will spend it how I want
16- Luke 1233-34 (NLT)
- 33 "Sell what you have and give to those in
need. This will store up treasure for you in
heaven! And the purses of heaven have no holes in
them. Your treasure will be safeno thief can
steal it and no moth can destroy it.
Matt 619-21 (NLT) 19 "Don't store up
treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten
by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break
in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven,
where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty
and where they will be safe from thieves.
17What really matters in my life?
- 3. Heart - Most important!
- External actions may look good but your heart /
motives are wrong. - May look good to everyone else - ex. Judas
- John 132 (ISV)
- the devil had already put it into the heart of
Judas - Routine of life can cause us to put our guard
down and compromise our standards
18Proverbs 423 (NLT) 23 Above all else, guard
your heart, for it affects everything you do
- Isaiah 2913 (NIV)
- 13 The Lord says "These people come near to
me with their mouth and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me. Their worship
of me is made up only of rules taught by men.
19Whats the Condition of Your Heart?
- Thoughts
- what consumes your mind?
- What do you meditate on?
- Words
- what do you talk about?
- Shows condition of heart?
- Passions/Motivations
- what motivates you?
- Why do you do what you do?
- What passions rule our heart?
20- Mark 834 (Amp)
- If anyone intends to come after Me, let him
deny himself forget, ignore, disown, and lose
sight of himself and his own interests and take
up his cross, and joining Me as a disciple and
siding with My party follow with Me
continually, cleaving steadfastly to Me.
21Living for What Really Matters!
- How to regain focus?
- Ask God to open our eyes
- Repent
- There must be deep heart change
- Must live our lives with
- Eye on Eternity
- Urgency
- Purpose
- He is worthy of our everything!
