Title: PROMOTING RENEWABLE ENERGY IN SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE
1Implementation status of Renewable Energy
related EU Directives in Romania
2 Renewable energies ? considerable energetic
potential ? improvements in the security
of supply ? offers unlimited
resources of use on local and national plan
? reduce air pollution and
greenhouse gas emissions ?
improvement in the economic and social
prospects of rural and isolated
regions
3Renewable Energy Road MapRenewable energies in
the 21st century building a more sustainable
future
This roadmap, an integral part of the Strategic
European Energy Review, sets out long term vision
for renewable energy sources in the EU.
20 - renewable energies in the overall EU energy
consumption 10 - minimum target for the
biofuels share of transport fuel consumption 20
- reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
4Legislation regarding renewable energy sources
- Romania transposed in national legislation the
provisions of - Directive 2001/77/CE regarding promotion
electricity produced from renewable
energy sources GD 958/2005 - Directive 2003/30/EC for promoting the use of
bio-fuels and other renewable fuels
for transport GD1844/2005 - G.D 199/2000 - regarding the efficient use of
energy, with further modification,
G.D 56/2006 - G.D 1535/2003 - Strategy for the renewable
energy use - G.D 1892/2004 - regarding establish the
promotion system for electricity
produced from renewable energy sources
5Within the STRATEGY FOR THE UTILISATION OF
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES is highlighted the
energy potential of RES in Romania
6National TARGETS
on the total generated electricity produced from
renewable energy sources target concerning the
share of electricity produced from renewable in
the gross internal electricity consumption is
2,22 for 2006, 3,74 for 2007, 5,26 for 2008,
6,78 for 2009 and 8,35 since 2010.

7The present share of RES in total energy
production
8Promotion system of renewable energy sources in
Romania
9Renewable Energy Sources eligible to receive GC
Solar energy Wind energy Hydro power plant

Valahia University (10 kW)
ROMANIAN SOLAR RADIATION MAP
Giurgiu
Mangalia
In accordance with the solar energy potential 5
areas have been identified in Romania, (0, IV),
differentiated by energy values
11WIND ENERGY
Now, in Romania, in Tulcea, Bistrita and Cluj
operate several wind plant .
12The hydro power is the most important RES in
Romania
13Wood waste biomass distribution map in Romania
- Biomass is grouped in two categories
- Firewood agriculture waste, etc.,
- Wood waste from industrial processes
Development of energetic potential biomass could
cover 70 from Romanian commitment regarding the
percentage of renewable energy in total energy
consumption.
14The category firewood agriculture waste, etc.
contains
- wood from forestry exploitation - wood sorting
from gardening cuttings in rural area -
agriculture waste
The category wood waste from industrial
process contains - wood waste from primary and
secondary processing of wood

17GEOTHERMAL POTENTIAL IN ROMANIA
At Ministry of Administration and Interior there
is PILOT PROGRAM 10 schools will be equipped
with heat pump that replace stoves and decrease
pollution.
Applications Oradea Calimanesti
Caciulata North Bucharest (Otopeni)
18Financial support for renewable projects
The National program for the reduction of energy
costs for the population, by increasing energy
efficiency and using renewable sources of
energy 2006-2007-development of district heating
networks for Vatra Dornei and Vlahita. 2006 -
the utilisation of geothermal energy in housing
from Livada and Sacueni . -
commissioning of the micro hydro power plants to
power the public lighting in the city of
Geoagiu. FREE (Romanian Energy Efficiency Fund)
is a revolving fund established by World
Bank. Environmental Fund is a fund supplied by
penalties for pollution and state budget.
193rd edition of the international exhibition
Expo Renew Energy 2008
will take place between April 21st - 24th, in
Bucharest.
