Explained
  • A subordinating conjunction is a word which joins
together an independent clause with a dependent
    clause
  • A clause is a unit which contains a subject and a
    verb
  • A dependent clause is a clause which is not in a
complete sentence, it cannot be said
grammatically correct on its own (ex Because it
    was hot.)
  • An independent clause is a clause which is in a
complete sentence that can be understood on its
own. (ex I put on my swim suit.)
  • The subordinating conjunction
  • introduces the dependent clause.

3
  • A subordinating conjunction puts together two
independent and dependent clauses to form a
complete sentence. (ex Because it was hot, I put
on my swimsuit.) The word because in the
sentence is the subordinating conjunction it
links the two clauses by showing the relationship
    between them.
  • A subordinating conjunction usually comes at the
beginning of a dependent clause. There is no set
place where the dependent or independent clause
should be, they can be either after or before
each other. (ex I put on my swimsuit because it
    was hot.)

-Subordinating clauses modify the independent
clause in some way, or act as parts of speech in
relation to the independent clause.

6
So that they are not discovered, Timmys fairy
god parents disguise themselves as goldfish.
7
  • While Santas reindeer were missing, Cosmo and
Wanda took over the reindeers job.
  • Since Timmy had been nice, Santa Clause gave him
    tons of presents.

8
Crocker will never rest, until he proves that
Timmy has fairies.
Crocker keeps coming up with schemes to prove the
existence of fairies, even though they all
backfire.
9
  • Wanda loves Cosmo, even though he has the
    intelligence of a door bell.

10
  • After the evil dentists stole Chip Skylarks
    teeth, Chip was extremely depressed.

11
  • Tootie was in love with Timmy, whereas he hated
    her with a passion

12
  • Since Chip is so proud of his teeth, he wrote a
song called My Shiny Teeth and Me.
