1Edexcel GCSE in Mathematics (Linear) (1380)
This specification offers a traditional linear
route to GCSE Mathematics and comprises two
terminal examination papers in June 2011. There
is no coursework to be completed.
2This is a two year course.
Your child will have started this GCSE in the
Summer Term of Year 9.
Students are initially placed in sets studying
the appropriate Tier based on the Level achieved
in Year 9.
3- Students have two internal key Assessments in
Year 10. - January 2010
- June 2010
- These ensure that students continue to study for
the correct Tier and students need to prepare
thoroughly for them.
Students will study for Higher or Foundation
papers based on their internal school exams.
4Students final Tier of entry will depend upon
their internal school exams in December 2010
(Year 11)
Foundation Tier - Possible Grades C, D, E, F, G
Higher Tier - Possible Grades A, A, B, C, D
5Two parallel Terminal Examination papers Each out
of 100 and each contributing 50 to the overall
final mark. Foundation tier (G to C) Paper 1
Non-calculator 1 hour 30 minutes Paper 2
With-calculator 1 hour 30 minutes Higher tier
(D to A) Paper 3 Non-calculator 1 hour 45
minutes Paper 4 With-calculator 1 hour 45
minutes
