Salary Study Charge
  • The Salary Study Committee was appointed by OSUE
    Human Resources and the OSUE Administrative
    Cabinet.
  • The committee was charged with expanding on the
    initial salary study conducted by Chris Igodan.

  • Data used in this comparative salary study was
    taken from the following sources
  • Analyses of Cooperative Extension Service
    Positions,USDA, December 2005
  • OSUE Human Resources
  • U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor
    Statistics, Occupational Employment Statistics,
    May 2005
  • The Ohio Education Association

Study Limitations
  • Information received from various Government
    surveys were not always reported to reflect the
    organizational structure of OSU Extension, making
    regional/national comparisons difficult.
  • Descriptive comparisons do not explain or predict
    the reasons for salary variations caution is
    warranted when making decisions strictly based on
    comparisons.

  • We compared mean salaries of Ohio teaching
    occupations with those of OSUE Educators.
  • We compared mean salaries of Ohio Teachers (K-1
    to K-12), having Masters Degrees, with OSUE
    Educator salaries.

    Educators with North Central Region/States

Procedures
  • Mean salaries were calculated using Excel and
    Jump-Statistical Software.
  • Thematic mapping was used to describe the extent
    to which OSUE Educator salaries deviate from
    other States at the national scale.

  • Code 050- State Specialist - That/those person(s)
