Internet Use for Research

• Go to a search engine such as Yahoo.com,
  Google.com, or MSN.com.
• Type in the search bar _____ career or _____ job.
  (fill in with your assigned job). Example
  Forester career
• Make sure the internet site is reliable. A
  personal page, for example, is not a reliable
  information source. (Ask if youre unsure.)

• Use the online card catalog to help you find
  books that could help you research your career.
• Suggestions to type in the search box

Taking Notes

• Take notes from the internet, books, or other
  sources on a separate sheet of paper. THESE NOTES
  SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN YOUR OWN WORDS (NOT COPIED).
• Make sure you write in your notes where you got
  your information. This means to cite. You will
  need this later.

• Where can you work?
• Are these jobs easy to get?

You do not have to answer ALL of these
questions. These are suggestions to get you
started.

How many slides?

• You need at least 3 slides relating to your
  career.
• 2 (or more) slides will contain information and
  photos you found about the career.
• 1 slide will list your books, magazines, and
  internet sites in alphabetical order.
• This is an introduction to a works cited page,
  which you will learn more about in your academic
  future (later middle school and high school).
• Title this slide as WORKS CITED.
