• More than 80 of schools were without computers

• Migration towards the full implementation of
  e-education, e-government, e-learning and
  e-administration

National Strategy for ICT

• All schools will possess a means of
  telecommunication
• Schools will have access to Internet-linked
  computing facilitiese
• All learners would have used computers - numeracy
  and language skills
• Learners and educators will have basic computer
  competency
• Learners and educators will have used a host of
  user-machine interfaces

• 3 Further Education and Training Colleges
• 1 Technikon
• 2 Universities
• Population of 3.5 million people
• 440 schools have been selected in the ICT and
  e-Learning pilot project

• Develop innovative new learning strategies for
  educators (teachers)
• Provide more and adequately prepared graduates
  and educators
• Address HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis, and the
  conservation of the environment
• Contribute to bridging the digital divide
• Develop relevant learning, technology and cost
  models for rollout
• Create new business opportunities
