  for the further development of the NSDI
• Product A Plan of Action for the FGDC and the

• Began in 2003 to evaluate activities and conduct
  strategic thinking
• An elaborate stakeholder exercise with focus
  groups and workshops
• Revised the 1997 NSDI strategy to develop the
  first iteration towards a more targeted National
  Geospatial Strategy
• Presented outcomes to FGDC Steering Committee in
  June 2004

• Develop a governance model for the FGDC that is
  more inclusive with shared responsibility- within
  the guidelines of the Federal Advisory Committee
  Act (FACA)
• Develop a more comprehensive Incentives
  (Cooperative Agreements) Program
• Pursue a regional approach in implementing NSDI
  principles, practices, and standards
• Pilots with states and regional consortia

• Complete the draft standards that will promote
  the sharing of core datasets
• Expand the current framework to include more
  themes of local, regional, and national
  importance
• Promote the use of web services,
  interoperability, and models for access and
  collaboration
• Develop an Enterprise Architecture for the NSDI,
  collaborating with CIOs

• Robust Communications Plan emphasizing the
  importance, benefits, and value to the user
  (demand) community
• Prepare a Business Case comprised of information
  available from the geo-community
• Establish Education and Training Programs
