What is StudyMate?
  • Create Flash-based activities and games using an
    offline Windows interface
  • Three templates let you create nine activities
    and games (view sample activities here)
  • Import existing content from Respondus, MS Word,
    rich-text, and other formats
  • Download publisher test banks for use with
    StudyMate from the Respondus Test Bank Network
  • "Spell check" an entire file (includes
    dictionaries for American English, Canadian
    English, British English, French, German,
    Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, and a comprehensive
    medical dictionary)
  • Insert graphics such as gif, jpeg, bmp, png, and
    pcx
  • Convert oversized graphics to a suitable size
    with one click
  • Insert mathematical and scientific symbols using
    the built-in Equation Editor or MathType
  • Add links to content on other servers with the
    Web Link tool
  • Use the Quick Copy Wizard to quickly assemble
    activities from existing StudyMate files or
    publisher test banks
  • Randomize questions and answer choices so the
    activity is different each time its started

    trial.

Open StudyMate
  • Double click on the StudyMate icon
  • on the desktop.

  • At start tab, click on Open.
  • Choose the Age of Discovery file.
  • Notice the questions at the bottom.

Open a question
  • Click on a title.
  • From the dialog box,
  • Click Preview.
  • Click Modify.
  • Make some changes.
  • Click Save Changes.

  • Click on the Publish/Preview tab.
  • Click on Preview in the left menu.
  • Preview all of the different types of questions
    in the file.

Add questions
  • Select the Edit tab.
  • Choose type of activity
  • No answer
  • One answer
  • Multiple choice
  • Enter information (including drop-down menu items
    which is different for different types of
    questions.)
  • Click Add to End of the List.

Import questions from Respondus
  • From the Start tab
  • Click on Import Wizard.
  • Select the Respondus option.
  • Click Next.

  • Complete the information in the dialog box.
  • Browse to your Respondus file.
  • Provide descriptive data.
  • Preview.
  • Finish.

Back to outcomes
  • Describe basic StudyMate activities.
  • Create new questions in an existing file.
  • Modify existing questions.
  • Preview a file in StudyMate.
  • Import questions from Respondus.

On your own
  • Return to your office.
  • Download and install on your
    computer.
  • Import test items from Respondus.
  • Publish your activities in your WebCT Course, to
    a CD-ROM, or a web server.
