  that are whole numbers
• Standard form the polynomial is simplified and
  the exponents are in order from largest to
  smallest

• 1 3x 2y Linear Polynomial
• 2 -2x2 3x 1 Quadratic Polynomial
• 3 5x3 x2 6 Cubic Polynomial

Add

• 3x2 2x 3 and 2x2 x -2
• By grouping like terms we group together
• (3x2 and 2x2) (2x and x) (3 and -2)
• By adding each of these terms we get our new
  polynomial
• 5x2 x 1

Subtract

• (a3 a 7) (4a2 - 3a 1)
• By grouping like terms we group together
• (a3 ) ( -4a2 )( -a and 3a) (7 and -1)
• By subtracting each of these terms we get our new
  polynomial
• a3 - 4a2 2a 6
