The Food Guide Pyramid
The food guide pyramid can help you choose
healthful foods in the right amounts.

FATS, OILS, AND SWEETS
Eat from this group sparingly. Foods from this
group include items like butter, oil, mayonaise,
doughnuts, candy, and salad dressings.

DAIRY GROUP
This group is a group that all people need. Try
to eat three servings from this group
everyday. Foods found in this group are milk,
cheese, yogurt, sour cream, and cream cheese.

The meat group
This group contains foods that are meats,
poultry, fish, dried beans, eggs, and nuts. The
main source of energy for long activity is found
in the proteins that these foods provide.

All people need to eat about 4 servings from this
group everyday. This group contains foods like
corn, squash, carrots, green beans, broccoli,
spinach, lettuce, cabbage, and potatoes.
The Vegetable Group

The Fruit Group
Foods in this group are apples, grapes, oranges,
bananas, and strawberries. Did you know that
tomatoes are also in this group? Dried fruits are
also included, like raisins, and prunes.
This group is full of vitamins and minerals your
body need to make you healthy. Eat four servings
daily.

day! Try to eat at least six choices from this
group. They will give you energy from their
carbohydrates.

Did you know that water is everywhere? Even in
your food?
We should all drink about eight glasses of water
a day. This keeps our organs and blood working
well.
