WHY WASH YOUR HANDS?

• Hand-washing is the single most important
  procedure for preventing the spread of biological
  contamination www.stanford.edu/dept/ehs
• Lack of proper handwashing causes the spread
  germs that can cause illnesses such as the common
  colds and flu.

SO,. WHAT ARE GERMS???

What are Germs?

• Germs are tiny organisms
• that can cause disesase.
• They are so small and sneaky
• that they creep into our system
• without us even knowing.

..there are four types

• Bacteria
• Viruses
• Fungi
• Protozoa

In order to prevent germs,

• Cover your mouth when sneezing and coughing
• Dont put unwashed hands
• in your mouth
• Be aware of where and what you touch in public
  places!
• AND,ALWAYS wash
• hands after using the restroom
• and before eating especially
• if you have been outside
• playing!

How do you wash your hands?

• Steps
• Turn water on with paper towel
• Wet your hands and wrists
• Work soap into lather
• Vigorously rub
• together lathered
• hands for at
• least 15 seconds
• Rinse hands thoroughly
• with hands downwards to prevent further
  contamination
• Dry hands completely with a clean paper towel
• Use paper towel to clean off faucet
