What Is Intermediate Algebra?
  • Follow-up to Applied Geometry or Geometry
  • Equivalent to Applied Algebra 2
  • Slower pace than Advanced Algebra with Trig
  • Preparation to take Advanced Algebra
  • Necessary for success in college math classes

  • Scientific or graphing calculator (you must have
    your own!)
  • Class text
  • Elementary and Intermediate Algebra by Larson and
    Hostetler

How Is My Grade Determined?
  • Homework
  • Given on a daily basis
  • Questions answered daily
  • DONT FALL BEHIND!!!!
  • Marked down 10 each day late
  • MUST HAVE 60 HW AVG. TO PASS ANY QUARTER!!!!
  • Scale for Homework (3 pts. per section)
  • 3 pts. Between 90-100 attempted, all work
    shown
  • 2 pts. Between 75-89 attempted, all work shown
  • 1 pt. Between 60-74 attempted, all work shown
  • 0 pts. Less than 60 attempted and/or
    inadequate work shown

Test Quiz Procedure
  • On all chapter tests and designated quizzes,
    intermediate algebra students achieving a score
    of less than 80 will have the opportunity to
    take a retest/requiz covering similar material.
  • Conditions
  • Must score 80 or below on first test/quiz
  • HW for unit at or above 90
  • Corrections on 1st test/quiz made in 1 week
  • Highest possible score on retest 80

What Is The Bonus Point System?
  • To encourage homework participation and cut down
    on tardies
  • Each student assigned 20 bonus points at the
    beginning of each quarter
  • Not earned until end of quarter
  • Points deducted for
  • Missing assignment (_at_ 2 points)
  • Failure to participate in class activity (_at_ 2
    points)
  • Tardies (_at_ 1 point)
  • Can raise grade by as much as 6-7!

  • Two free restroom/locker passes per quarter
  • Tardies begin to accumulate thereafter
  • No food, candy, or drink
  • Must be thrown in garbage before class
  • No cell phones
  • Must be kept in your locker

What Do I Need To Know About Class Procedure?
  • iPods and CD players ok on limited basis
  • May be used during HW time
  • Must be put away during all other classtime
    activities (including tests quizzes)
