3What is flickr
- Flickr is the best way to store, sort, search
and share our photos online. There is a huge mass
of photos in the world, and Flickr provides a way
to organize yours, and for you and your friends
and family to tell your stories about them.

- 20 MB monthly upload limit
- 3 photosets
- Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent
images - Storage of smaller (resized) images

- 24.95 / year
- 2 GB monthly upload limit
- Unlimited storage bandwidth
- Unlimited photosets
- Permanent archiving of high-resolution original
images - Ad-free browsing and sharing
6Creating an account
Since Flickr is owned by Yahoo! youll need a
Yahoo! account to use it. You can create one here
if you dont already have one.
7User profile
You can include as little or as much information
as youd like. Other options include Web site
URL, home town, interests, favorite movies/books,
and more.

9Web interface
Tells you how much of your upload youve used so
far this month.
Browse for the image you wish to upload. The Web
interface limits you to six uploads at a time.
Click this link for the uplodaing tools.
Tags added here will be attached to all photos
uploaded in this batch.
Privacy options
10Upload to Flickr viaWindows XP Explorer
Adds Flickr as an option for Web publishing via
XPs Publish this file to the Web
11E-mail
Clicking on this link will present you with a
custom e-mail address attached to your account.
E-mailing a photo to that address will post it to
your flickr account. Click this link again
whenever you want a new e-mail address.

13Editing
Clicking on the Edit link allows you to change
a photos title, description, and tags.
14Organizing
The organize screen allows you to manipulate your
photos in batches including tagging, sending to
groups and sorting sets.
Search photos by tag, keyword and date. Select
drag them into the organizer.
15Creating a set
Click on add to set then select create a new
set.
Youll then need to give the set a title and a
description (optional).
When you create the set this photo will
automatically be added to the set.
16Adding to a set
Click on add to set then select the name of the
group you wish to add the photo to.
17Removing from a set
Click on add to set then click on the X next
to the name of the group. Deleting all photos
from a set will delete the set.

Available sizes will depend on the size of the
original photo.

Moving your mouse over the picture allows you to
select a particular picture.
22Blogging via Flickr
To send flickr photos to your blog you must first
set up your blog info in your account.
You can also control who is allowed to blog your
flickr photos.

Click blog this to send the photo to your blog.
Then compose your blog post. The photo will
automatically be cited.

25Tags
The larger the word, the more popular it is.
26Favorites
To make a photo a favorite, click on add to
favorites.
To view your favorites click on the your
favorites link on your photos page.
27Adding/editing contacts
To add someone as a contact, find the link on
their stream page. Youll be given the option to
mark them as a friend and/or family.
Once youve added a contact theyll be marked as
such on their stream page along with a link for
you to change their status or remove them from
your contact list.
28Contacts
You have a page listing your contacts linked to
on your homepage.
29Contacts _at_ home
The four most recent photos from your contacts
will appear on your homepage.
30Groups
Try a search on topic of interest and to see what
groups already exist before creating your own.
31Creating a group
Choose your group type carefully.
32Joining a group
Joining a group will add the group pool to your
groups list and will allow you to submit your
photos to the group.
33Adding to a group
Click on send to group to post your photo to a
group. You must be a member of a group before it
will show up in this list.
34Removing from a group
Click on send to group then click on the X
next to the name of the group.
35RSS Feeds
Look for links to RSS feeds at the bottom of any
group, tag, or user stream.
36Leaving your mark
37Comments
Comments will be shown beneath the photo.
You can also add your own comments to any photo.
Be sure to preview before posting.
38Recent comments
Use the dropdown box to change the timeframe for
displayed comments.
You can link to recent comments off your home
page.
39Viewing Notes
If theres a note on a photo a box will appear.
Hover your mouse over the box to see the content
of the note.
40Adding notes
Click add note to do just that.
You can drag and resize the note box.
The content of the note goes here.
41Your Account
There are options you can change here. Be sure to
look at all of them before you get to far along.
