Making a mock-up of a Jester hat

• You will need
• Pencil, Pattern Paper, 30cm ruler, Scissors, Pins

• Fold your paper into quarters.
• With the longest fold to your right and the other
  away from you, draw a horizontal line from the
  fold which measures the circumference of your
  head divided by 4.
• Divide the distance from the bottom of one ear,
  over the top of your head to the bottom of the
  other ear by 2.
• Measure on the fold from the horizontal line this
  distance and mark on the fold.
• Divide the distance that you got in step 3 by 2
  and use it to measure a vertical line which runs
  at 90o to your first horizontal line.
• From the fold, draw a line which is the distance
  calculated in step 3.
• Now join the end of this line to the line that
  you drew in step 5.
• Add a 1cm seam allowance to lines 6 and 7, and a
  2cm seam allowance to lines 5. Add a 2cm hem to
  line 2.
• Use 3 pins to hold your hat together. Cut out
  your mock-up, including the fold.

10. Label each piece as below so that you know
how they should be assembled.
11. Use 5 pins to join the front left to the
front right and repeat for the back two pieces.
MAKE SURE THAT THE WRITING IS ON THE INSIDE.

11. PIN the front two pieces to the back two
pieces, following the dotted lines on the above
diagrams and turning up a 2cm hem around the
bottom.
