In 1560, Spanish Explorer Francisco de Coronado
took a search party from New Spain overseas. When
they hit what is today Arizona,Coronado sent
Peter de Tovar to search for gold and Hopi
Indians. On 1775, the Spaniards built a presidio
in present day Tuscon.In 1864, The United States
and Mexico went to war. Mexico lost that war.
Since the US won that war, the US gained all of
the land from Texas to California including most
of Arizona.In 1848, because of the gold rush in
California people started coming over look for
valuables. They started making transportation to
move westward. In 1854, the Gadsen Purchase paid
Mexico 10 million dollars they could have the
land south of the Gila River. In 1912, President
Taft signed papers for Arizona to be the 48th
state in the Union. Arizona has an area of
113,909 square miles. The Indian name Arizona
means small but ever flowing springs. Arizona
has high plateaus, short mountain ranges, deep
canyons, and hot deserts. Cacti and lizards are
common. The most important river is the
Colorado.Arizona can be divided into three major
regions the Plateau region, the Mountain region,
and the Basin and Range region. Arizona is one of
the least populated states. Arizona's most
valuble mineral is copper which is worth 1
billion dollars a year. Principal crops are
cotton,lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, and
sorghum. Arizonas most valuable farm products
are cattle,calves, and dairy goods. Arizona is
one of the top producers of cotton, second in
producing lemons, and third in producing oranges,
grapefruit, and honeydews.

oats, wheat, celery, and tomatoes. Seventy-nine
percent of Floridas money comes from tourism
which is counted as an industry. Florida is
54,090 square miles. The lowest point is sea
level. Florida is divided into 6 regions Coastal
Lowland, Western Highlands, Marianna Lowlands,
Central Highlands, Tallahassee Hill Region, and
the Everglades-Big Cypress Swamp and the
Okeechobee Swamp. Lake Okeechobee is the largest
lake in Florida. Floridas summers are humid and
dry. The highest temperature was 109 F. The
lowest temperature was -2 F. In 1513, Ponce
de Leon discovers Florida and makes it Spainish
Territory. Hernando de Soto lands in Tampa Bay in
1539. In, 1763 the French and Indian War and
Spain gave England Florida because of the Treaty
of Paris. The US buys Florida from Spain in
1819. Territory of Florida is organized in 1821.
In 1835 the Seminole Indian War took place. In
1845 Florida becomes the 27th state and its
capital is Tallahassee.

Florida is known for its tourist attractions are
are someNASA Space Station, Sea World, Disney
World, Fort Lauderdale, EPCOT Center, and Miami
Beach. Other people come for the events here are
some The Orange Bowl Festival, the Gator Bowl
game,the Orlando Magic (basketball) and Miami
Dolphins (football) games, and Spring Training
for major league baseball teams.

In Georgia, valuable crops are soybeans,
tobacco, wheat, and cotton. Georgia is the
leading producer in peaches, broilers, and eggs.
The most important industries are textile mills,
and pulp mills. In 1886, a man named John
Styth Pemberton made a soft drink in his back
yard. Today it is one of the best-selling sodas,
Coco-Cola. Georgia is 58,910 sq.. miles. Its
lowest point is sea level on the Atlantic Coast.
The Savannah River is Georgias longest river.
Georgia is divided into 3 regions the North
Mountains, the Central Piedmont Plateau, and the
Southern Coastal Plain. Mountains found in
Georgia are are the Appalachian Mountains and the
Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1539, Hernado de
Soto explored Georgia. In 1861, Georgia seceded
from the Union. In 1846, General Sherman captured
Atlanta and Savannah on his march to sea, during
the Civil War. Georgia was readmitted to the
Union in 1870.

Georgia. There are 45 different state parks,
Atlanta Hawks (basketball), Georgia Bulldogs and
Georgia Tech (college football) and the Atlanta
Braves ( baseball) games. Of course, you can
picnic, fish, hike, hunt camp, and boat.
