The Diaper Bag
A Newsletter For Parents of
Infants
Dear Parents, I am requesting that you do the
following activities at home with your child to
enhance the following development stages
Physical
Cognitive
Put a treasure box full of toys that the child is
able to reach so that they can grasp different
toys. Allow them to feel and discover each toy
on their own. Note Do not give them toys with
small pieces, or that can be hazardous. Keep in
mind that they might choke.
While holding your infant play some music in the
background and read to them book.
Psychosocial
Get together with a group of friends that have
infants and allow the infants to interact with
each other. Start getting them use to being
around their peers. Allow them to be aware of
their surroundings.
Sincerely, The Teacher

park. Make sure that the equipment is appropriate
for your child. It should contain items like
blocks, sand, balls, low beam balance, and body
of water (optional) etc... Make sure that you
choose equipment that will engage them in play.
Psychosocial
Read a bedtime story aloud before your child goes
to bed. Respond to all their facial
gestures, words, questions and concerns. By asking
them what they are feeling or thinking. Make
sure you let him/her know that you love them and
make them feel secure. Use words that describe
feelings and thoughts. Make this activity

6-8 year olds
Dear Parents, I am requesting that you do the
following activities at home with your child to
enhance the following development stages
Physical
Cognitive
Invite some of your child's friends over
and provide them with a ball and interact with
them in a game. For example throw and catch,
kick ball, football, tee-ball, hide-seek, and
hop scotch. Or you can simply ride bike around
your neighborhood.
Have your child draw a picture of whatever they
want and then have them write about what they
drew. Have as many materials out such
as non-toxic crayons, paper, pencils, and non
-toxic paint available for them to use to express
themselves. Or you can supervise them on a
computer and play with some educational games
that are available on- line at www.funbrain.com
and www.lycoszone.com.
Psychosocial
Go to our local meat market and ask if you can
get some butcher paper. Then have your child draw
about how they feel about certain things. At
first you can try and guess what they are feeling
by looking at the drawings. Then after making
some guesses ask your child what their pictures
represent and talk about their feelings. Enhance
your child's self esteem through positive
comments.
Sincerely, The Teacher
