it is becoming progressively more important to
integrate technology into the elementary schools
to help prepare students to succeed in our
ever-changing world. - This interactive slideshow will give you ideas
about how to best incorporate technology into
your classroom.

4Teachers using technology to establish research
based practices.
- Technology and the internet are great resources
for teachers to refer to as they encounter
problems or difficulties in their classroom or to
simply to freshen up old ideas. - Some of the sites that I found most useful for
teachers to use as they are establishing
research-based practices are the ones listed
below.
5International Reading Association
- The International Reading Association is a
website that is most effective if you become a
member of the association. - From this website, a teacher can find many
articles that have been published by other
teachers and reading professionals.

6Reading Online
- Reading Online is another website that offers
articles on a range of topics in reading
education. - Teachers can use this website to search for
articles that have been written and published on
various topics. - Click on the icon below to visit this website!
7Teachers using technology as a resource to create
lessons.
- Every teacher that I know is continually
searching for new lesson plans, materials,
supplemental activities, and ideas for presenting
lessons. - The internet is a great place to look for such
things and often the first resource that I go to
when looking for a new idea. - Some of the lessons that you will find on the
internet have printable materials and you can
implement these lessons write in your classrooms.
- Others have materials that students can access on
the internet and you can teach your lesson in the
computer lab or with laptops.
8Read Write Think
- This is a great website that provides teachers
and students access to the highest quality
practices and materials in reading and language
arts instruction. - Teachers can search through lesson plans,
standards, web resources, and student materials.
- Students can complete some of the activities
included right on the computer. - The lessons provided all include a research base
and links to websites that will reinforce their
lessons.

9Lesson Plans Page
- The lesson plans page is another website that you
can go to for lesson ideas. - You can search for lessons by subject or by most
recently added. - It also includes seasonal lessons for the
different seasons throughout the year. - The lessons included on the page have all been
submitted by teachers and there is a great
variety of lessons available to use.

10Rubistar
- This website allows you to enter the domains that
you wish to grade as well as a grading scale and
the criteria for each different score. - I feel that giving the students the rubric when
they are given the project helps to set your
expectations and shows students exactly what they
need to do to succeed.

11Students using websites to supplement their
reading curriculum.
- In addition to teachers using technology and the
internet to supplement and enhance their
instruction in the classroom they can also use
the internet as a teaching tool in the classroom.
- There are many websites that are designed for
children to practice various skills. - These are sites that children can work on
independently or the teacher can assign these to
children to complete.
12Funbrain
- Funbrain is a website that offers choices based
on subject area and grade level. - Since my focus is on reading, I usually have my
children use the reading category of this
website. - They highlight certain books and encourage
children to read these books and complete
activities based on what they have read. - They also have books that you can read on the
website and complete activities based on the
different chapters.

13Gamequarium
- Another website that should be used to enhance
learning in the classroom is gamequarium. - This website also offers activities based upon
subject and grade level. - The language arts section offers activities such
as vocabulary games, word work, sentence
structure and many other activities.

14Book Adventure
- Finally, another website that students can access
as a supplement to their curriculum is Book
Adventure. - Book Adventure is a free reading motivation
program for children in grade K-8. - Children can create their own book lists, take
multiple choice quizzes on the books they have
read, and earn points and prizes for their
successes.

16Final Thoughts
- The websites provided in this slideshow are only
a few that teachers and students can use to
supplement their classroom experiences. - The internet also provides many search databases
that can help students, teachers, and parents
find materials. - Two search databases that I like to use are
- www.google.com
