1Permit Process For the Control Of Aquatic
Vegetation in the State of New York
2 Certification is required of any person who is
applying pesticides to the surface waters of
New York State
3Homeowners can apply for a Special Use Permit
4Requirements The water body is one acre or
less in size and the outflow can be controlled
and it is owned by one person.
5The following information is required Name,
address and location of pond Size of Pond
length x width x avg. depth Acre-feet

Type of Vegetation to be controlled ID
through Cooperative Extension or
Natural Resources-they also recommend
what herbicide can be used. A copy of the label
is available from the dealer to obtain the
following information Pesticide and
manufacturer name EPA Registration Number
Active Ingredient Application Rate
7You Must Make Sure That The Vegetation You
Are Controlling Is LISTED ON THE LABEL
8This permit is good for three years It is up to
you to determine how much you will need for each
year. If the permit expires and you still have
some herbicide leftover, you need to obtain
another permit in order to apply the herbicide.
9Article 15 Part 327 Aquatic Vegetation Permit
is required when The pond is
more than one acre in size Or the outflow can
not be controlled Or there is more than one
owner
10Part 327 Aquatic Vegetation Permit
requires 50.00 check Six copies of the
application plus maps USGS map detailing where
water body is located Map detailing area of
water body being treated Letter from other
owners or Board of Directors resolution giving
permission for the treatment.

all riparian owners and users of the restrictions
on water usage during and after the
application Do not swim for 24 hours Do not
drink for ??? days or water livestock Do not use

food or feed

If there will be outflow, data must be
submitted showing how far the water will travel
down - stream to determine the affected
downstream riparian owners and users during the
restriction timeframe.
