Compassionate Consideration

• Compassionate consideration is for something
  unexpected that happens on the day of the exam or
  in the short period leading up to the exam
• Remember that compassionate consideration is not
  for on-going, long-term conditions
• Compassionate consideration is not compensation
  for missing the exam for no good reason
• Read the Guidelines before you tell a candidate
  that they qualify and, if in doubt, phone your SRM

• Choose your reference candidates with care
• NZQA can not process applications when
• there are no reference candidates or only one
• the school provides only a glowing recommendation
  from a teacher
• none of the reference candidates attends the exam
• Choose reference candidates who
• are similar in performance for the standard
• attended the exam
