Game Programming Language

• Video game programming is mainly done in two
  programming languages, C and Java. The
  computer language translates into a sequence of
  zeros and ones, and tells the computer what to do
  with the program.

What the Programmer Does

• Programming is what makes the game work. Think of
  the computer as someone that needs to know every
  last detail. For example, if a character jumps,
  does he come down? The programmer is in charge of
  making sure that the game works correctly. They
  make apply the animations, textures, and effects
  to the characters and environment. They are also
  in charge of creating the physics and graphics
  engines for the games to work properly.

Debug

• The programmers may be in charge of creating what
  works inside a game, but mistakes in the code can
  be made. Usually toward the end of development,
  the programmers must go back through to code to
  find errors, or things that need to be added.
  These problems are called Bugs. There is at
  least one in ever game available, and its
  impossible to get every last one out. The only
  thing that the programmers can do is try to get
  the major bugs out.

How Much Does It Pay?

• The salary of a software programmer ranges from
  40K-70K depending upon who you work for and your
  education. Some are even paid up to 80K, but
  again, salary varies.

Whats Needed for the Job

• Programmers need to attend a school that offers a
  degree in software or computer programming.
  Schools, such as ITT Tech, Digipen, and Westwood
  offer degrees in programming. Some programming
  schools dont even require you to have a college
  back round, and can be attended directly after
  high school.
• Once the degree is acquired, programmers can seek
  a job at places like Microsoft, Nintendo, and
  Apple.

Ending Product

• Game programming is a growing career in the IT
  field, and companies are constantly looking to
  hire new employees. The job takes talent and a
  large understanding of math, but when you get to
  see games, like the one on the left, come to
  life, its worth every last minute.
