Title: SCIENTIFIC PROCESS

1
SCIENTIFIC PROCESS
2
STATE THE PROBLEM
  • This is a question that you want to answer.
  • For example
  • Would I get my picture taken with celebrities
    dressed like this?

3
RESEARCH
  • Discuss the research that has already been done
about your subject. Summarize the past research
and identify where it comes from.
  • For example
  • Studies in Europe have shown that 2 out of 3
males dressed like a Beastie Boy get their
    picture taken with celebs.
  • (source takemypic.com)

4
HYPOTHESIS
  • You must make a specific statement of what you
believe to be true about your study.
  • For example
  • A male dressed in polyester with blinged out
accessories is more likely to get his picture
    taken with a celeb.

5
MATERIALS
  • Make an exact list of every item (kind and
amount) needed to run your experiment.
  • For example
  • 1 man
  • 1 polyester suit
  • x celebrities
  • Etc

6
PROCEDURE
  • Give specific step-by-step instructions on how to
run your experiment. Be exact and detailed so
that anyone could run your experiment perfectly.
  • For example
  • 1) Dress a man in a polyester jumpsuit and have
him attend a Hollywood event with multiple
    celebs.
  • 2) Have him take his camera and ask each celeb
if they would have their picture taken with him.

7
RESULTS
  • Here is where you record all your data. Organize
what you measured in graphs, charts, or tables
    depending on what makes sense.
  • For example

8
CONCLUSION
  • Talk about what your results mean. Tell if your
hypothesis was correct or not. What could you
have done differently and what future research
can be done on this subject.
  • For example
  • My data showed that celebs are willing to take a
pic with a normally dressed man 80 of the time
but were only willing 4 to help a man dressed as
a Beastie Boy. My hypothesis was incorrect

9
CONTROLS VARIABLES
  • CONTROL GROUP this is your normal group to
    compare to your TEST GROUP.
  • Example men dressed normally were my CONTROL
GROUP and men dressed as Beastie Boys were my
    TEST GROUP.
  • MANIPULATED VARIABLE the 1 thing that is
    different between the 2 groups.
  • Example the VARIABLE was the polyester outfit.
