Current Needs
  • 2005 marks ISHs twenty-third year in partnership
with the Department of Social Services.
  • The need for the resources provided by ISH has
not diminished in the years since it was
    organized in 1983.
  • The Department acknowledges dependence upon ISH
as it attempts to serve vulnerable citizens.

19
Current Needs
  • Caseloads of low income elderly/disabled adults
    continue to increase.
  • Caseloads of foster care children are the highest
ever. Most have been abused and/or neglected.
  • Current economic conditions have precipitated an
increase in the numbers of program applicants and
an increase in emergency need requests, which
totaled 10,037 as of December for Fiscal Year
    2002-2003.
