• Explanation Paper 102, HLA Virtual Command Post
• RTI capable of sending video and voice in
  near-real-time (200ms) in limited experiment.
  Reduces apparent need for backchannel
• Recommendation Continue tracking backchannel
  and RTI performance issues in future papers (CFP)

Live Community need for Embedded RTI

• Explanation Paper 155 and 158 Javelin
• Discussed JAVA RTI written for embedded
  applications
• Addresses real-time, RF issues
• Addresses perception that HLA Works well in
  homogeneous environment, not well in
  heterogeneous environment
• JAVA can provide interoperability across
  machines latency same as DIS
• Recommendation The Forum should actively
  investigate RTIs for embedded and real-time
  applications (CFP)

Need for Live FOM?

• Reference RPR FOM Discussion
• There is interest in the Live community to use
  the RPR FOM also some interest in developing a
  Live FOM
• There is also not much experience in adopting
  FOMs for live systems
• Recommendation Solicit papers on FOM selection
  and development for Live systems (CFP)

Workshop or Conference?

• Trend away from discussions toward papers could
  be cause for lower attendance?
• Recommendation????
• Low number of papers this time--Some attributed
  to very short turn-around time on paper
  submittals
• Recommendation Publish formal proceedings after
  workshop to relieve paper schedule.
• Papers already available on the web and CD.
• Could provide individual copies for a small fee.
