• The Idea
• Coming from an international background to Clark
  University, and finding it difficult to adjust to
  life in Worcester freshmen year. Ive always felt
  a need for a method of making the transition
  smoother.
• The epiphany came from a guest lecture in The
  Art of the New.
• Speaker suggested that the next emerging
  entrepreneurship market would be international.
• Original idea was to have offices located in
  China and United States to offer classes for
  students and visitors.
• Draft of first idea consisted of
• Support system (USA)
• Information Services (China)
• Non-Profit
• Network People
• Host families

• The Process
• Through market research and cost analysis it was
  decided that at initial launch a website was more
  feasible.
• The next steps were acquiring the proper software
  and programs.
• After months of programming and countless phases
  with the website, changing designs, layout, and
  usage, www.LocalConnect.com was ready by late Oct
  06.
• 123Steps for general use was developed in Dec 06.
  This was a version not only focused on
  international students at Clark but was made for
  everyday users and locals.

• The Process (Continued)
• The new concept was not well liked and after
  another survey eventually scratched.
• Resorting back to the original concept, focus on
  only international students at Clark 1,2,3Steps
  was redesigned.
• In March of 07, a final demo of 123Steps was
  ready.
• More debugging and programming was needed.
• April of 07 www.123Steps.info was officially
  registered with GoDaddy.com.

• The Future
• With the official launch scheduled for the Fall
  of 07
• It will be the first time international students
  coming to Clark will be able to network with
  others already in Worcester.
• A well established database of registered users
  will be developed.
• Users will be able to browse through the website
  and utilize the Ask The Pros tool.
• One year from now we can begin to see
  123Steps.info used by Students at Clark
  University on a large scale.
• Five years from now I would like to see
  123Steps.info used by Clark and the surrounding
  schools.
• Eventually 123Steps.info can be used as a general
  directional guide for everyday task.
• 123Steps.com networking abilities developed to
  the levels of a myspace.com or facebook.com for
  international students.
