Title: WP suggestion Creation of a Knowledge Base

1
WP suggestionCreation of a Knowledge Base
  • Mattias Larsson, KTH

2
Objectives and underlying rationale (why)
  • The INNOMET list of skills and questionnaires are
not uniform and will not be uniform unless we
dont define and structure the underlying
    concepts
  • If we dont define the skills in a formal way we
will soon encounter inconsistencies in the system
  • And, most important, we dont have a way of
defining personal capabilities in a uniform way
  • A solution to this problem is to develop a
taxonomy, or ontology of skills, which would be
one of the objectives of this WP

3
  • With a formal way of describing a persons
capability (in terms of skills) it should be
  • possible to
  • Create a knowledge base, in its traditional form,
    representing and describing personnel
    capabilities
  • Support decision making
  • Support competence management
  • Describe the ideas and concepts existing within
    the IPS
  • Identical understanding of terms and definitions
  • An ontology describing the employees capability
(skills) can be used as a valuable
  • input or construct to enterprise modelling
    approaches, HR concerns, competence
  • management etc.
