Business Strategy
  • Cloud 9 Tours uses a web site http//www.cloud9to
    urs.com/ to get the information out to people
    about their tours.
  • They are a storm chasing team that allows
    individuals to go on a 2-week tour with them.
  • The web site gets the information out to people
    who may not live in the area around Norman
    Oklahoma but would like to go out and chase
    storms.
  • The web site is also a good way to show the
    pictures and videos of past chases to the general
    public.
  • Also they will link to web sites of others who
    have gone on chases with them.

Why They Have Adopted Strategy
  • Charles Edwards said that they developed the web
    site to get their information out to more people.
  • To most all storms chasers chasing storms is a
    hobby. It is a very expensive hobby at that.
  • Some will pay for their hobby by selling pictures
    or video. Others do so by giving tours
  • In the end it is a very rewarding experience and
    it allows others who may not ever get a chance to
    chase storms a way to do so.

Tangibility of Strategy
  • There is tangible evidence that the web page and
    tours has had an impact on the business.
  • It has allowed the Cloud 9 Chase team to continue
    to be able to do their chasing.
  • The web site allows people to see what they have
    a chance to see on a chasing tour.
  • The web site gives the person ample detail about
    the chases and what they should prepare for.

Is the Strategy Transferable?
  • This depends on how you want to look at it.
  • Yes, a business could benefit from getting their
    word out on the web and hoping that more people
    hear about them this way.
  • At the same time this isnt the only way a
    business should be promoted.
  • If one is looking to expand their scope of
    individuals who know about them, then creating a
    web site and linking it with others will be a
    good way to get the information out.
  • This strategy will not work with all business and
    even with other storm chasing teams, as it
    depends solely on how they wish to get their
    information out and what they are looking for in
    a business.

Why and Who Lead this Adoption In Technology
  • Charles Edwards led the adoption of the web site
    and strategy for the Cloud 9 Tours.
  • He was looking for a way to be able to continue
    to afford storm chasing. He decided to offer the
    tours to be able to do so.
