    health science and social care professions
  • challenge inaccurate stereotyped views of
    healthcare

    interdisciplinary nature of healthcare
  • raise the audiences understanding of the wide
    range of careers in healthcare

Who should I use it with?
  • The resource has been developed with year 10 and
    11 students in mind. However it is also the case
    that many teachers have found it a useful
    resource with a range of other cohorts.
  • In our testing with local schools, we have found
    the Day in the Life website works well with the
    following groups
  • Year 9 Gifted and Talented cohorts
  • Year 10 and 11 Aimhigher cohorts
  • Individual year 10 and 11 Science classes
  • Individual year 10 and 11 Health and Social Care
    classes
  • FE cohorts for whom English is not the first
    language
  • Individually and with groups as a careers
    guidance tool

How can I use it?
  • The resource has strong links into the
    curriculum, in particular
  • GCSE in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 1 The text and student/staff interviews
    highlight the work roles and skills of those
    working in the sector alongside values
    underpinning care work.
  • GCSE in Applied Science
  • Unit 3 Scientific knowledge and skills underpins
    many of the careers highlighted through the
    resource.
  • PHSE
  • To find out about the options open to them
    post16, including employment and continuing
    education and training, and about their financial
    implications.
