  • Criminal Act
  • Specific conduct forbidden by statutes

  • Principal
  • Person who commits a crime
  • Accomplice
  • Helps another commit a crime
  • Can be charged and convicted with same crime as
    principal

  • Accessory Before the Fact
  • Person who orders a crime, or who helps principal
    commit crime but is not present
  • Charged with same crime as principal
  • Accessory After the Fact
  • Knowingly helps principal or accomplice escape
  • Charged with harboring a fugitive, aiding the
    escape, or obstructing justice

  • Solicitation
  • Command, urge, or advise another person to commit
    a crime
  • Attempt
  • To attempt to commit a crime is in itself a crime
  • Must have both intended to commit a crime
  • Taken substantial step toward committing the crime
