• What kind of message are we sending to our
  states future generations? Harrell asked.
  Using this tax to expand a government
  entitlement program will set up an expectation of
  non-responsibility and establish an entitlement
  society. These children (helped by Medicaid) will
  grow up being taught that it is the governments
  job to care for them.

Myths/Facts about South Carolina

• MYTH Medicaid is a welfare program for people
  who dont work.
• FACT Sixty-five percent of Medicaid enrollees in
  South Carolina are in working families.
• MYTH Once people get on Medicaid, they stay on
  Medicaid.
• FACT On average, low income families stay on
  Medicaid only two years and children only 2.5
  years.
