by Antoine Predock 5 This Regional Modern
masterpiece, featured in Architectural Digest,
features a limestone cliff with a tunnel entry
and a sky ramp for birdwatching
20The Hobbit House 4200 Armstrong, Highland Park
2 Also called the Hansel and Gretel House, this
home features a roof of hand-cut copper shingles
that were acid-washed to develop the green
patina. Supposedly the city would not allow the
thatch roof that was originally planned.
21The Powerhouse 3321 Armstrong Avenue, Dallas 2 A
former Dallas Power and Light substation,
converted into a home. Still has some of the
original equipment used as sculpture, and has one
of the old neon signs of Sparky hung on an
exterior wall
22The Kovandovitch House 523 Eads Avenue, Oak Cliff
2 This reinforced concrete structure, built by
immigrant resauranteur Joe Kovandovitch, has
overlooked downtown since 1914.
