Brass Instruments

• Valve instruments
• Tone produced by vibration of the lips
• Examples
• Trumpet

Woodwind Instruments

• Instruments originally made from wood
• Now some made of metal or plastic
• Sound produced by blowing air against an edge or
  vibrating a reed
• Double and Single Reed Instruments

Percussion

• Any object that produces a sound when hit,
  shaken, rubbed, scraped, or another action
  producing vibration.
• Percussive instruments can play not only rhythm,
  but also melody and harmony.
• Examples
• Drums (Timpani, Snare, Bass, etc.)

• Xylophone
