1
The Civil War
  • What if the South won??

2
What Happened.
  • It all started when I was first landing
back on Earth. I was getting out of my space ship
and I heard some kind of cannon. There were
people shooting guns and they all had knives.
This couldn't have been the right planet!
  • So I thought.

3
Some of the major events that took place during
the war are
  • In February 1861 the south created a government.
In March 1861, Lincoln's inauguration took place.
In April 1861, the attack on Fort Sumter began
and shots were fired, Fort Sumter ended up
    surrendering to South Carolina.
  • On June 1861, the state Virginia was born and
was admitted into the union as a state of West
    Virginia.

4
MORE.
  • On January 1862, Lincoln issued a war ordering
the union to launch a coordinated aggressive
    action against the confederacy.
  • On June 1862, there was a war called The Battle
of Seven Pines, this is where the confederate
army attacked the federal forces at seven pines.

MORE.
  • On September 17, 1862, Confederate forces were
caught by General McClellan by Sharpsburg,
    Maryland.
  • 2,108 Union soldiers were killed
  • 9,549 wounded
  • 2,700 Confederates were killed
  • 9,029 wounded
  • This battle did not have a certain winner, but
the General Lee withdrew to Virginia. This was
    the bloodiest day of war.

6
MORE.
  • On July 2, the confederates withdrew from
Richmond and this ended the Peninsular Campaign.
This is where General McClellan's troops left for
    Virginia.
  • The Fall of Confederacy took place in January
    1865. Transportation problems and blockades
caused severe shortages of food and supplies in
    the southern parts.

7
MORE.
  • On March 1863, an act was passed that made all
the men between ages 20 and 45 liable to be
called for military service. You would not be
called if you paid a certain fee.
  • In June- July 1863 something called the
    Gettysburg Campaign happened. General Lee
defeated union forces at Winchester, Virginia
    and all through Pennsylvania.
  • Grant again attacked Confederate forces at Cold
Harbor and he lost over 7000 men in 20 minutes.

8
MORE.
  • On April 14, 1865, Lincolns Assassination took
place. He was watching a play called Our
American Cousin and was shot by John Wilkes
Booth. A union soldier shot Booth eleven days
after he was cornered in a burning barn. The
four other people involved in the Assassination
    were hanged, imprisoned, and acquitted.

9
The Outcome of the war was
  • Many men were absent in the army and the women
began to assume larger responsibilities in the
    workplace.

    long after the war.

    in industry and agriculture.

    gathering more responsibilities.
