  • Students will be able to identify letters and
    recognize their corresponding sounds in the
    beginning, ending and medial consonant positions.
  • Students will be able to decode words containing
    short vowels and common word families.
  • Students will be able to decode words containing
    consonant blends in beginning and ending
    positions.
  • Students will be able to decode words containing
    long vowel and common word families.
  • Students will be able to decode words containing
    digraphs.

  • Students will be able to use cueing systems
    independently in a variety of reading materials
    including semantic, syntactic and visual cues.
  • Students will be able to read the first 100 high
    frequency words.

    orally and/or in writing or by using pictures in
    sequential order.
  • Students will apply comprehension strategies to
    stories read aloud by teacher and to their own

    5 sentences focused on a given topic with
    supportive details.
