2Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rates
- History
- The Florida Department of Education/State Board
of Education is required by law (F.S.
1002.69(5)-(6)) to annually calculate a
kindergarten provider readiness rate for EACH
private or public school VPK provider for either
the School-Year (540 hr.) or the Summer (300hr.)
program.
3How it works
- The VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rate
measures how well a provider prepares 4 year olds
for kindergarten based on the Florida VPK
Education Standards. - The Readiness Rate is based on the results of the
statewide kindergarten screening (FLKRS) for
children completing the VPK program.

- Screener
- FLKRS is composed of two instruments
- 1. A subset of the Early Childhood Observation
System (ECHOS) - 2. Two measurements of the Dynamic Indicators
