SMART On-line Diagnostics
  • Enable manufacturers to self-assess
    opportunities for productivity improvement and
    identify projects for SMART Program assistance
    for the Qualified Service Provider
  • Not mandatory to the Funding request
  • However must be completed prior to an On-site
    Assessment request

SMART On-site Assessments
  • Help companies identify opportunities for
    productivity improvement and potential projects
    for SMART Program assistance.
  • Not Mandatory to the Funding request
  • Qualified experts in Lean, IT management, energy
    efficiency recruited by CME
  • Companies apply online for SMART Program-funded
    on-site assessments
  • Select from list of CME designated experts
  • Target 250 companies selected on a first-come,
    first-served basis

SMART On-site Assessments
  • SMART Program funds up to 6,000 per assessment
    for companies eligible for SMART funding
    companies pay 1,000 for the assessment or 15 of
    total cost.
  • Experts visit applicants facilities to conduct
    on-site assessments
  • 2 days on site, 1 day for report preparation, 1
    day for follow-up meeting with company
  • Experts provide a report that
  • Establishes productivity baseline
  • Estimates how much improvement is possible
  • Describes the project steps required to achieve
    this improvement
  • Recommends projects eligible for SMART Program or
    other funding

Smart Program On-site Assessment
FundingApplication Process
  • Complete on-line application form
  • Choose your Qualified Service Provider (QSP)
  • QSPs must be registered with SMART through the
    QSP application process (2 week lead time)
  • Email the QSP quotation to SMART Co-ordinator,
    Louise Rubletz
  • Manufacturer receives funded portion of
    self-assessment upon receipt of report and
    invoice

  • Support successful implementation of
    productivity improvement projects
  • Eligibility Ontario manufacturers with between
    10 and 500 employees and two years operational
    history
  • Funding is available for only one project per
    facility

  • 50 of project costs up to a maximum award of
    50,000
  • Estimated 500 recipients
  • Standard contribution agreement,
  • 30 advance on expenses
  • 50 upon receipt of documented expense claim

    results

  • Must be completed within 4 to 6 months of
    notification

  • Not more than 50 of project costs at time of
    submission
  • Not more than 60 days prior to the submission date

Industry Expert Criteria
  • The Project Plan clearly describes what must be
    done
  • The Project Plan has reasonable metrics
  • The stated resources (budget, manpower,
    management) are sufficient to complete the
    project on time
  • Management has the right tools and skills to
    manage the project effectively

  • Management is committed to the project and to
    manufacturing productivity
  • The project is likely to result in the benefits
    proposed
  • The project will have a significant impact upon
    the companys operations
  • The project has a high probability of success
