  • Transport Policy adjustment of the transport
    system to market economy and European
    co-operation - adopted by the Council of
    Ministers in 1995.
  • National Transport Policy 2001-2015 for a
    Sustainable Development adopted by the Council
    of Ministers (17.10.2001)
  • Infrastructure key to development - element of
    the Government Economic Strategy adopted by the
    Council of Ministers (29.01.2002)

Last initiative
  • August 2004 - The Ministry of Infrastructure
    starts work on a new policy which will be
    presented to the Parliament for approval
  • Draft based on previous policy documents and
    reports prepared by the team of experts - adopted
    by the Minister on 21 January 2005 ? consultation

    of road traffic, very significant increase in air

Main problems
  • Congestion especially on national roads and in
    urban areas perceived versus real!!
  • Growing negative impact on the environment and
    society growing awareness!
  • Peoples health and lives are at risk, especially
    in road transport
  • Poor condition of infrastructure, especially
    railways and road infrastructure not prepared for
    heavy trucks 115kN/axle
  • Low rail efficiency and competitiveness
