What we expected

• View middle school teacher
• Assist teacher in a few projects
• Get a behind-the-scenes look at the
  teaching world
• Learn a few teaching tips
• Mainly take the back seat, learn as an
  introduction to the field.

What we got!

• Take over a classroom of thirty students
  for four periods a week.
• Plan and execute our own lessons
• Create, administer, and grade tests
• Assist kids with special needs
• Become amateur teachers!

What We Learned

• Just because one student understands, it doesnt
  mean that everyone does.
• Patience is key
• Always have more than one method for teaching the
  same thing.
• You cant teach 6th graders the same way Mr.
  Naples teaches you.

What did St. Ignatius Do?

• IN THE BEGINNING
• Jacque and I contemplated ideas for fun
  classroom events.
• Got to know the students
• We began our journey in the stock market.

The Math/Science Showcase

• The 7th grade presented boards with their Stock
  Market Projects on them.
• 8th grade presented their research about the
  various aspects of the stock market.

Life after the Showcase

• With both 7th and 8th, I have been walking around
  the class helping students with troublesome
  problems.
• My first opportunity to teach a lesson to the 7th
  graders over Dividing Monomials.
• With the 8th grade, I have been tutoring a
  student that was home-schooled until now.
• Next week the students will be beginning a unit
  on exponents. I would like to do the chess
  problem with the students.
