    of English learning in secondary schools
  • English Enhancement Grant Scheme for Primary
    Schools is thus launched

Objectives
  • To strengthen the learning and teaching of
    English in school
  • To achieve sustainable effects after the
    completion of the Scheme

Eligibility
  • All aided, government or DSS primary schools,
    including special schools with primary section

Grant Allocation
  • Actual amount will depend on schools proposal
  • Capped at 500,000 per school

Combination with other Grant
  • May combine EEGS with other grant, e.g. Capacity
    Enhancement Grant (CEG)
  • - Usage should remain within the parameters of
    EEGS
  • - Separate financial and evaluation reports to
    account for the expenditure
  • impacts of the measures

Disbursement of Grant
  • School may expend the grant in 2 years
  • Grant will be disbursed annually according to
    schools projected cash flow requirements

Accounting Arrangement
  • Set up a bank account for EEGS
  • Keep a separate ledger account to record all the
    income expenditure chargeable to EEGS
  • Spending exceed 500,000?
  • - the excess should be met by other funding
    sources

    completion of the project
  • Prior approval should be sought if there is any
    change in the proposed budget, timetable or
    content of the school plan

    representatives of EDB

    sustainability of the proposed school plan
  • Where necessary, recommends revision

    the targets set
  • Incorporate the reports endorsed by the SMC / IMC
    in their Annual School Report
  • Upload onto its Homepage before end-November each
    year

    Report within 3 months after its first / last
    year of implementation to the EDB
  • (if it covers all the required areas)
  • Submit financial statement original invoices to
    the EDB for checking
