Soda bottle worm farms

• Materials needed
• 2 Liter empty and rinsed out soda bottle with cap
• 1 Source of heat (candle or alcohol burner)
• 1- Lighter/matches to light heat source
• 1 metal pick that has a sharp point (about
  1/16th inch in diameter or can use opened paper
  clip)
• 1 Exacto knife or scissors
• Masking tape
• Permanent marker

Directions for Making the Soda Bottle Worm Farms

• 1. Use permanent marker to draw line just above
  soda bottle label all around the bottle

• 2. Light you heat source

Making the holes

• 3. Place the tip of the metal pick into the
  flame. This is to heat the tip so it will melt
  small holes into the plastic bottle. The area
  you poke holes in is the top portion from the lid
  to the line you made.

Warning

• DO NOT force the point into the bottle. Reheat
  the tip. The holes can not have sharp ends as it
  could scratch the worms and they would die from
  moisture loss

MAKING HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE for
moisture seepage

• 4. Turn the bottle upside-down and poke holes in
  the bottom. In each foot poke at least 2 holes
  and in the center at least 3 holes. The center
  is a lot thicker so the pick must be hotter.

LABEL REMOVAL

• 5. Take the label off the bottle by cutting or
  peeling it off

Cutting the top off the bottle

• 6. Using the xacto-knife carefully cut the top
  around the marker line to release from the rest
  of the bottle
