Objectives
  • At the end of this module the participant can
  • Activate the alarm silence button.
  • Set alarm parameters outside of the default
    settings
  • Identify the alarm state by recognizing the
    related symbol

  • When the M Series or E Series is turned on, all
    of the alarms are disabled and the limits are set
    to their default.
  • The practitioner can reset the alarm limits at
    any time. The next slide will address the
    default settings
  • High and Low Default
  • High and Low range limits that can manually be
    set by the practitioner

Alarm Function
  • Once setting selected, notification will occur
    whenever the patients vital signs change above
    or below the selected parameters
  • Continuous alarm will sound
  • Display area for the alarming vital sign
    highlights
  • Alarm display symbol flashes on the screen

  • The options available on this illustration (SpO2,

Alarm Suspend, Setting Alarms and Alarm Limits
  • There are 2 Alarm softkeys
  • Alarm Suspend will activate alarms once
    established and will silence alarms at any time.
  • Alarms Softkey to set alarm limits.

  • To set Alarms
  • Press the Alarms softkey
  • The alarm menu will display

Setting Alarms
  • Press the Select Parameter softkey to select type
    of alarm
  • Press the Incgt and the Declt softkeys to change
    state of selected alarm and increase/decrease
    alarm limits

  • Use the Next Field softkey to scroll through
    state and limit fields.

  • Press the Return softkey to set all selected
    values and return to original menu.

Alarm Suspend
  • Press the Alarm Suspend button to activate the
    new alarm settings
  • Verify that proper alarm symbols are displayed
