4History of RH
- Richard Rodgers began his career in 1920 working
with Lorenz Hart. - When Hart passed away in 1943 Rodgers began work
with Oscar Hammerstein who was known for his work
in operettas. - Hammerstein passed away in 1960.
- Rodgers continued his writing until 1979.

- Began work in 1957 as the lyricist for West Side
Story. - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
was his first work as a composer/lyricist. - Known for his dense lyrics, unpredictable
melodies, and difficult accompaniment. - His music has been put into its own style, or
genre of musical theatre. - Most of his musicals have been revived on
Broadway
