Kindergarten Philosophy

• The Colegio Maya Early Childhood program values
  the development of the whole child
  intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. 
  Learning is viewed as a social process whereby
  children develop intellectual independence and
  risk-taking in the context of a safe, organized,
  and creative environment.  Teaching allows for a
  balance between child-initiated and teacher
  directed instruction emphasizing the processes of
  inquiry, authentic experiences, collaboration and
  reflection, using developmentally appropriate
  practices.  There is an emphasis on learning
  through play in an organized environment to
  encourage language, discovery, motor skills, and
  decision making.  Our program works toward the
  common goal of excellence to support the
  wholistic growth of our diverse learner
  community.
